The legislative body of the Town of Amherst is a Representative Town Meeting, consisting of 240 elected Town Meeting members, 24 from each of 10 precincts plus 14 ex officio members: the 5 members of the Select Board, the 5 members of the School Committee, the President of the Library Trustees, the Chair of the Finance Committee, the Moderator, and the Town Manager. The Annual Town Meeting usually begins in late April or early May.

Saturday, March 17 - Meet your Precinct's Town Meeting Candidates This is a pre-election opportunity for any and all Amherst residents to meet their Town Meeting candidates and learn their views on issues facing Amherst, sponsored by the Town Meeting Coordinating Committee and moderated by the League of Women Voters of Amherst.

Monday, April 2 - Select Board is scheduled to sign the Warrant
Tuesday, April 10 - TMCC & LWV Warrant Review at 7:00 pm in the Town Room at Town Hall
Sunday, April 15 - TMCC Bus Tour for Town Meeting Members, if needed - Meet in the Middle School parking lot at 1:45 pm.

April 30, 2018 - Orientation for New Town Meeting members at 6:00 to 6:45 pm in the Middle School (look for signs to the room)
April 30, 2018 - Town Meeting begins at 7:00 pm in the Middle School Auditorium. Additional dates of May 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 14, 16, 17, 21, 23, 24, June 4, 7, 11, 2018 are reserved. It is unlikely that all of these dates will be needed.
